So, guys, I've been trying to come up with the best line to describe my reaction after watching the 'Escape Plan 2' and the best line I came up with is: I really wished I could've escaped the Escape Plan 2! I mean, this year was a really good year for the movies- Avengers: Infinity War made my year, I was blown away by Black Panther, then the Wizarding World made a new addition which made me question my whole Harry Potter knowledge and then- I thought, I REALLY DID, that the Escape Plan 2 will be the perfect ending for movies in 2018. I liked the first movies- the first 'Escape plan' was one of my favorite movie ever and I really like the idea they have with this franchise- I mean, a guy who goes to prison just to escape from it- that's brilliant! But the 'Escape Plan ' was just a big NOOOO for me and today I'm gonna explain why. First, everything right with 'Escape Plan 2':Sylvester Stallone and the idea. (I'm not being mean by just writing this quickly, but this movie made even the idea look bad and Sly was barely in the movie...) Now, everything wrong with 'Escape Plan 2':The story is hard to follow Now, this is the first thing that I want to mention, because in my opinion, literally (and when I use the word literally I mean it!) everything can be bad in a movie- the set, the special effects, the directing- but there are 2 things that for me make a good movie: the story and the way the actors develop it!- And here, I found that one of these two elements is already missing and that is the story! If you asked me what 'Escape Plan 2' was really about I wouldn't be able to tell you. From my point of view, it wasn't even about escaping from prison (!!!), it was about these million background stories (mostly about a character Shu) and I swear to God if there were million stories inside this movie (And I'm pretty sure there were), not even one was about Sylvester's character. The story makes no sense at all and there are a lot of plot holes You might thought that I was over it, but there are even more wrongs with the story! In a movie, the story should usually be simple ( There could be layers, but the goal should always be simple and known to the crowd), but this story, if there even was one, sure wasn't simple at all! As I was watching this movie, I felt like I was watching at least 7 movies at the same time and non of them made any connection to each other. One second they'd show one scene and then 7 seconds later, the story will move from that scene to another leaving everything unexplained! The acting is bad Remember my 2 elements for a good movie? Well, the second one is surely now developed the way it should've been! I'm not saying anything against Sylvester Stallone, 50 Cent and Jaime King, who've all appeared in the first movie and made this one feel a little bit more natural. But still, when you look at the whole cast, I feel like non of the actors had really space to show they're talents and make they're job believable! I don't know what went wrong, but I sure wasn't happy about the way things turned out. Sly is almost not in the movie Many people don't know this, but one of my favorite actors ever is Arnold Schwarzenegger and when I found out that he was not going to be in this movie, I wasn't mad and I'm not writing this post out of revenge. I was actually excited about this movie, because Sylvester Stallone was still in the franchise and at the end, he is the star of the movies- but what happened in this one, and I don't know how, Sylvester was not even in the movie as much... I mean, for more than half of the movie, he's not the one that's inside the prison and once he gets there,... well... he just goes out and that's it, that's the end of the movie. I'm not a movie director and I don't know much about directing a movie, but one thing I know is if you have Sylvester Stallone in a movie, make every second count! Also, just to add that Dave Bautista is credited as the star of the movie next to Sly and I swear that I can only remember 2 scenes that he was in. The action makes no sense After I watched the movie (which was I think a week ago), I actually wrote ideas for this post and notes on all the things I didn't like (as I always do) and it took me a second, but I remembered why I noted this as one of the things I didn't like. In movies, very often, the story and meaning of the movie gets lost in the action scenes, especially if it's an action movie! In time, I just got used to this and forgive those mistakes, because the movie still ends up being entertaining- so, while I was watching this one, I thought: well, maybe this is just another movie where the action scenes are what really matters.- But as I was watching the movie, even the action scenes made no sense to me and I didn't enjoy the prison fights, chasing or running away from the bad guys... There were still a lot of things that were performed badly and left me even more confused. The special effects ruined everything that was left as not that bad Well, still after everything I mentioned, I always try to find something good in a movie and this time I just couldn't, I really couldn't, because even with all these mistakes, what really was the final kick are the special effects which I hated. I felt like i was watching an anime and not a sequel to one of the best movies ever! Maybe someone should tell people behind this movie- Simplicity is the key! Conclusion:I still don't understand what this movie is about. If they wanna make 'Escape Plan 3' better, the people behind the movie should watch the first 'Escape Plan' movie, bring Sly, 50 and J.King as the team ONLY and make the movie about the damn prison and how to escape out of it.
You don't need Arnold Schwarzenegger to make a good movie, you just need a good story that everyone can understand and everyone can follow. Thank you so much for reading. I can't wait to write to you again. In the mean time, please stay safe, work on your dreams and be kind to everyone always! ♡
